Detoxification and Drainage

Detoxifying the Liver and Draining Heavy Metals – why is this so Important?

The basis of our therapy to strengthen self-healing powers and immune modulation is the detoxification of the liver and the removal of heavy metals, environmental toxins and other toxins.

Often these toxins are one, if not the cause of very different diseases and disturbances of well-being. Frequently, however, they also represent therapy blockades, so that otherwise very effective conventional medical or naturopathic therapies cannot be effective.

“Metal contamination can play a causal role in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory multisystem diseases by directly promoting inflammation and at the same time negatively influencing the regulatory cycle between inflammation, mitochondriopathy, oxidative and nitrosative stress. In this respect, they contribute decisively to the fact that immune tolerance is permanently disturbed via chronic inflammation, …”

How people react to heavy metals and other environmental toxins always depends on the individual ability of the organism to compensate for occurring stresses and damage and to be able to restore the balance.

Resistance-promoting factors include a good supply of essential trace elements, an adequate supply of vitamins and antioxidants, as we present them in the chapter Micronutrient Medicine.

Studies suggest that metal-induced oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, leads to damage to blood vessels, promotes the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and chronic renal insufficiency, and contributes to general inflammatory processes.

“Symptoms that may indicate the need for detoxification and drainage treatment are:

  • impure skin
  • heavy sweating
  • constant fatigue or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
  • allergic diseases
  • chronic joint and muscle pain
  • poorly healing wounds
  • permanently increased susceptibility to infection
  • high tendency to inflammation
  • strong odors from body excretions
  • constant diarrhea
  • chronic itching
  • irritated and tired eyes, sunken dark circles and swollen eyelids
  • tumor formation or
  • increased hair loss.”

Various measures are available for detoxification and drainage.

Detoxifying the Liver and Draining Heavy Metals – What Methods are there?

The most important therapy to detoxify the liver and drain the heavy metals is to support the body’s own detoxification by strengthening the liver and all draining organs. In the true sense, this means strengthening the self-healing powers and self-regulation. Only when this is no longer sufficient or fundamentally disturbed, other therapies come into question.

Chelation therapy is probably the best known and a very effective drainage therapy for heavy metal contamination. We carry out chelation therapy in our practice and are a member and certified by the German Academy for Chelation Therapy e.V. This procedure is also recognized by the WHO for the removal of heavy metals.

But there are also other therapies to support detoxification or to accompany chelation therapy.

Such therapies are:

  • Phytotherapy (especially milk thistle, artichoke, wormwood, yarrow and dandelion for liver and bile relief)
  • Lactic acid therapy
  • Chlorella and spirulina algae
  • Orthomolecular medicine (micronutrients such as selenium, zinc, etc.)
  • Intestinal stimulation
  • Lymphatic drainage

Which therapy is specifically suitable for you depends on your clinical picture, your physical reserves and your personal needs. Detoxification can lead to a temporary burden on the body, so we must ensure that your body is able to do so in the respective situation.

Basically, before most therapies we carry out a
diagnostics for contamination with heavy metals and environmental toxins
as well as a test of the current detoxification performance of your body in order to be able to treat in a targeted and efficient manner.

If there is evidence of mercury poisoning from amalgam fillings, a dental restoration may be necessary, which is continued with a subsequent drainage.

Prophylaxis

Unfortunately, heavy metals and other environmental toxins are not fundamentally avoidable.

However, the total amount of toxins absorbed can be reduced:

  • Conscious and healthy diet
  • Avoidance of contaminated food
  • Avoidance or reduction of stimulants
  • Intact intestinal flora through suitable measures (pro- and prebiotic nutrition)
  • Sporting activities
  • Sauna
  • Avoidance of stress or psycho-hygiene
